How to Kill a Windows Service which is stuck at stopping

This is one issue, where I was unable to start the vCenter service , and was stuck at stopping. The following steps are for the vCenter Server installed on the Windows OS.

Step 1. Find the vCenter Server Service Name

Take a RDP to the vCenter Server, go in to services and double click on the service which is stuck saying Stopping.  Make a note of the “Service Name”.

Step 2. Make a Note of the PID for the vCenter Server service

sc queryex vpxd

SERVICE_NAME: vpxd
        TYPE               : 10  WIN32_OWN_PROCESS
        STATE              : 3  STOP_PENDING
                                (STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)
        WIN32_EXIT_CODE    : 0  (0x0)
        SERVICE_EXIT_CODE  : 0  (0x0)
        CHECKPOINT         : 0x0
        WAIT_HINT          : 0x493e0
        PID                : 2380
        FLAGS              :
